January 25th, 2014 will be a very big day for Revolution BJJ! January marks the 8th year anniversary for the gym’s existence, and thanks to all the growth over the years (and especially more recently), we’re expanding to a facility that is three times the current facility’s size! To commemorate this momentous occasion, we’re offering four events during the day.
First, Julio “Foca” Fernandez will visit Richmond to conduct a three hour Brazilian Jiu Jitsu seminar on passing the guard! Julio brings a legendary status as a sixth degree black belt under the legendary Carlson Gracie, and is one of the founders of our team. We are honored to begin the festivities with Julio giving one of his high energy, information-packed seminars on passing the guard! For more information on the seminar, check out the official event page on Facebook and contact us to reserve your spot early. The seminar will be from 12-3 PM.
Next up, head instructors Andrew Smith and Trey Martin will oversee BJJ belt promotions for several highly deserving students. Julio’s presence and blessing will make the occasion even more memorable! Everyone will take a seat at 3 PM, and the entire ceremony will last one hour. More info is available here.
Then… open mat! Come roll with some of the best grapplers in the area, as several students from Revolution BJJ and quite a few visitors from other gyms take to the mats at 4 PM to do the type of training that represents our gym- relaxed and fun! Here’s the Facebook event for more info on what to expect. There is no charge for the open mat.
Finally, at 5 PM, refreshments and food will be offered, including catering from Chipotle (nearly everyone’s favorite option for catering!). This is a great time for friends and family who don’t necessarily train to come check out the new facility and hang out with good friends. Open house info is here.
Of all these events, the seminar at the beginning is the only one that costs any money. If you use Facebook, please RSVP to any of the above events so that we can get a good estimate of the numbers in attendance. Otherwise, feel free to contact us via email. Let’s make it a great day!
